Camp Rules & Policies at Oakland Valley Campground

Oakland Valley Campground is owned and operated by Andy & Kristi Finnigan. This is private property, and it is our home. Please show us the same respect you would like us to show you in your home.

  •  Your signature upon check-in and/or acknowledgement on the online booking system signifies that you have read and understand the rules of the campground.
  • Oakland Valley Campground management reserves the right to remove, without refund, any guests that violate any of the below rules or policies.

Reserved Guest will be responsible for all persons entering under their reservation, whereas they are permitted to camp and participate in the activities at Oakland Valley Campground. By completing the reservation, the reserved guest agrees to the following Waiver and Release: I hereby KNOWINGLY AND INTENTIONALLY WAIVE AND RELEASE, INDEMNIFY AND HOLD HARMLESS, Oakland Valley Campground including all officers and employees of all liability for injuries caused by, but NOT LIMITED TO, the following activities: CAMPFIRES, HIKING, FISHING, SWIMMING, TUBING, WALKING in PARK, PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT, PLANNED EVENTS, DOGS, SHOWERS, SPEED BUMPS, BICYCLE, GOLF CARTS, ELECTRIC SCOOTERS AND ENCOUNTERS WITH WILDLIFE.

I acknowledge that camping has many hazards and that there are risks that cannot be eliminated, particularly in an outdoor environment. I hereby acknowledge that Oakland Valley Campground is not responsible for any theft, loss or damage incurred during my stay. My completed reservation confirms that I have read and agree to abide by all rules and policies at Oakland Valley Campground. I also understand that I can be asked to leave the property, without refund, for failure to follow said rules and policies. A copy of which is available upon check-in, online at oaklandvalleycampground.com, and within this reservation process.

CANCELLATIONS & REFUNDS

  • $25 NON-REFUNDABLE FEE. If you change or cancel your reservation a $25 fee will be assessed UNLESS you increase your stay with your change request.
  • 100% Refund (less $25 non-refundable fee) if cancellation is 3 or more days prior to reservation.
  • NO Refund if within 2 days of reservation.

SCHEDULING A RESERVATION & RESTRICTIONS

  • You must be 21 years or older to make a reservation and must be the primary occupant.
  • 1 week minimum in the Park Model.
  • 2 night minimum on all Riverfront Sites.
  • 3 night minimum on all Holiday Weekends.
  • All camp sites can accommodate up to 8 people, 2 pets, 2 cars and 2 tents or 1 camper. Any number over that restriction requires additional site rental.

ARRIVAL / DEPARTURE:

  • Please bring your license plate state, number and make of auto info to check in. All adults 18 and over must present a valid Photo ID.
  • OFFICE HOURS: Office/Store is open between 10:00am and 9:00pm on weekends. If the office happens to be closed, there is a doorbell, or you can call 845-754-8732.
  • EARLY CHECK IN: Please call the night before to see if your site is available for early check in. If you come in before 2:00pm, do not go down to your site. Please call us at 845/754-8782 and we will try our best to get you checked in.
  • LATE CHECK IN: Please call by 6:00pm to give us your ETA. If you are not here by dusk, please understand we may have no alternative but to ask you to stay in the upper camp store parking lot so as not to disturb other campers.
  • DUMP STATION UPON ARRIVAL: If your septic tank is full upon arrival, please do not dump at your site. It is likely the previous campers dumped before leaving and double dumping will cause an overflow. A charge of $10 will be applied to your account.
  • CHECK OUT IS AT 12 NOON: Please leave your site as you found it .. CLEAN! Fires doused. All trash in receptacles. Failure to leave a clean site will result in a minimum $25 charge.

PAYMENT TERMS AND CONDITIONS:

  • Payment in full is required at the time of reservation.
  • Checks are not allowed. Cash and bank transfers are the preferred form of payment.
  • Credit cards are accepted as part of our online booking and in-house transactions. The credit card used to make the reservation will be kept on file for add-ons and other purchases as well as charges for damage or theft.

COMMUNICATION:

  • Emails is our primary way to communicate with you. It is imperative that you understand if we send you an email, and you fail to acknowledge it, we are NOT accountable for your not reading email from us.
  •  

RECEIVING MAIL AND PACKAGES:

  • This is not a residence. No mail is accepted and will be marked, “Return To Sender”. Packages from UPS, FedEx, or USPS will be accepted and held in the office for pickup. Packages need to have “in c/o Oakland Valley Campground” in the address and your name and site #. Example:

VISITORS:

  • Registered campers must notify the office of incoming friends and family.
  • The fee must be paid in advance by the registered camp for the visit.
  • All visitors MUST register at the office and provide ID.
  • No more than 8 people at any site, at any time.
  • Excess numbers will be asked to leave, or to rent another site.
  • Day Visitors must pay the equivalent to adult site fee and leave by 8:00pm.
  • Overnight Visitors: Will pay the current rate for the site where they are staying.

DUMPING & HONEY WAGON:

  • We have a dump station to accommodate our non-sewer sites. Please dump on your way out. The dump station is located behind the rec hall and there is a hose available for flushing your tanks. We have a honey wagon for pump-outs. Anyone staying 6 days or longer is entitled to one free pump-out per week. Otherwise, there is a $25 charge. NO PUMP-OUTS on Friday or Saturday. Pump-outs are generally done on Tuesday or Wednesday. Please let us know on Monday if you need a pump-out. An emergency pump-out on weekends will incur a $50 charge.

QUIET HOURS:

  • Definition of Quiet Time: Time in which outside lights, music, TVs are to be turned off.
  • 11:00pm to 7:00am (Fair warning: Andy walks the campground at night and may knock on your door to remind you of the quiet hours.)
  • Sitting around the fire, admiring the night sky, and enjoying each other’s company in low voice tones IS strongly encouraged.

RIVERFRONT AREA:

DO NOT GO THROUGH SOMEONE ELSE’S CAMPSITE!!

  • If you are not camping on a Riverfront Site and wish to access the river, you may do so between Sites 1 and 1A. You may NOT pitch a tent, canopy, or other equipment. You may not park on the river access area. It is for all to enjoy.

MUSIC:

  • Because of the varying tastes and likes, music needs to be kept LOW AT ALL TIMES (under 70dB), and OFF by 11:00pm. If your music can be heard on someone else’s site, then it is TOO LOUD.
  • Playing instruments during the day is fine, as long as not disturbing others. And, if you’re any good, let us know! We’ll put you on the porch to perform!

ALCOHOL & DRUGS:

  • The use of alcohol and marijuana is permitted, as long as it’s not disturbing others. Please use it discreetly and not in public areas such as the pool. Use of illegal drugs are not permitted, and you will be ejected immediately and not allowed to return. Agressive or disturbing behavior resulting from the use of alcohol will not be tolerated.

ELECTRIC VEHICLES:

  • $15 per electric vehicle that enters the campground, up to 3 days.

DISH WASHING:

  • No dumping gray water on the ground. There are two dishwashing stations on the river level.
  • All food scraps, grease, etc. MUST be put in the trash can provided, not down the drain.

TENT CAMPING:

  • 2-week maximum stay time.

COURTESY:

  • Car or RV washing is not permitted.
  • Do not move the picnic tables or firepits. Each site is provided with one table and one pit. If you need more, you need to bring your own. Moving a table or firepit will result in a $25 charge for each incident.
  • Sleeping hammocks and clothes lines are permitted only to be strung in trees located in the tent sites, not on the waterfront as the trees struggle to stay on the bank.
  • Do not cross through another campsite or remove any items from another site, even if it appears unoccupied, including firewood.
  • All activities such as corn hole, etc., may be played at your site as long as it doesn’t interfere with neighboring campers.
  • Our campers appreciate the peace and quiet here. Please keep your music LOW, not to be heard by your neighbors.
  • Please notify us of any problems so that we may address them. If you post your complaint in a review after you have left, there is nothing we can do, and this is considered rude as you have not given us a chance to address your issue.

SAFETY:

  • NO CUTTING OF STANDING TREES, dead or alive. Do not affix any metal objects to any trees in any way. Doing so will result in a $100 charge.
  • No chainsaws or any other power tools or equipment is allowed to be used at Oakland Valley Campground.
  • In the event of an EMERGENCY, PLEASE CALL 911 FIRST.
  • Any injuries or accidents that require medical attention need to be reported to the office.
  • DRIVE SLOWLY – followed posted limit on campground – 5 MPH.
  • Bike riding during daylight hours only. Helmets required for children under age 14. No speeding.
  • Electric skateboards, scooters, and golf carts are permitted to be driven on the campground with the appropriate safety gear and insurance.
  • Dirt bikes, ATVs, Gators, UTVs and Side-by-Sides, or any other unregistered or uninsured vehicles are not allowed.
  • Parents are not to leave children under age 18 alone or unsupervised (especially in the camp store, rec hall, or pool). Do not allow your children to play in the road near the store or propaner refill station. Do not allow your children to play in the bathrooms.
  • Due to the natural surroundings, walking along the shoreline is at your own risk.
  • There is no lifeguard on duty. Swimming, tubing, and fishing are all at your own risk.
  • No drunk driving or joyriding around the campground in any vehicle, of any kind.
  • RESPECTFULLY, do not wear or display colors, except for Veteran, LEO or NYFD groups.

FIRE & FIREWOOD:

  • NY Statae DEC regulations state that firewood is not to be transported more than 50 miles. As such, we do not allow outside firewood. We have bundles for sale in the store. Our prices are competitive and reasonable. Limit of 6 bundles per site, per day.
  • Fire is dangerous. Please fully douse fire out when unattended.
  • Flames no more than 2 feet are permitted.
  • DO NOT BURN GARBAGE, especially cans, bottles, or plastic. It is very dangerous for our workers to have to clean out firepits.
  • Use of fire is always at your own risk.
  • Do no more the fire rings. Moving a fire ring will result in a $25 charge.
  • Fireworks, air soft, pell or paintball guns are not permitted on campground property.

TRASH & RECYCLE:

  • All trash must be bagged and put in the dumpster at the end of the day. This will help to keep wildlife away.
  • Recycle all bottles and cans in designated areas.
  • Do not place electronics, furniture, or appliances in the dumpsters. Take it with you and dispose of it at your home. Violation of this rule will result in a $100 charge.

LAUNDRY ROOM:

  • Open between 9:00am — 9:00pm (last load allowed at 7:30pm).
  • There are 2 washers and 2 dryers.
  • $4 per load (wash and dry) coin operated accepts quarters.
  • Quarters are available in the office.

PET POLICIES: DOGS, CATS, BIRDS, ETC.

  • Must be under control (leashed and minimal noise) and always cleaned up after.
  • Do not leave pets unattended inside or outside RV/camper/tents.
  • Please do not chain your pet to any campground buildings, trees or property.
  • 2 dogs per site, maximum.
  • Dogs who bark excessively will need to leave the property.
  • No loud vocal birds.
  • Agressive dogs are NOT allowed. If your dog attacks ANYTHING you will be asked to leave the campground WITHOUT REFUND. The safety of other campers and their pets is our #1 priority.
  • DO NOT walk your dog on a leash while you are driving a vehicle. Dog walks must show visible control of their dog.

SHOWER HOUSE & BATHROOMS:

  • Shower house and bathrooms are cleaned regularly, and are open 24 hours.
  • Please be sure to turn off the water and lights when you are done.
  • Report any immediate cleaning needed in the bathrooms to an employee or at the store.

DRONES:

  • No permitted to fly over campground. The wildlife (eagles & osprey) and guests prefer not to be buzzed.

GENERATORS, CHAINSAWS, AND AND ALL POWER TOOLS, PRESSURE WASHERS, OUTDOOR APPLIANCES:

  • Not permitted

SWIMMING POOL: YOU MUST REVIEW WITH YOUR CHILDREN

  • People using lotion or oil MUST shower before using pool. CHILDREN UNDER 3 YEARS OF AGE & NOT TOILET TRAINED MUST WEAR SWIMMIES. (Available at camp store.) NO DIAPERS ALLOWED.
  • Pool hours are 10:00am to dusk.
  • No lifeguard is on duty. Swim at your own risk.
  • Children under 16 years of age MUST be accompanied by an adult responsible for them in the pool area at all times. A minimum of one adult, 18 years of age or older, must be present whenever the swimming facility is in use. The adult must always be within the pool fence area.
  • Only use the swimming facility during posted hours of operation.
  • NO DIVING, JUMPING, HORSE PLAY OR RUNNING, SPITTING, URINATING OR DEFACATING in the pool. NO FOOD, DRINKS, DOGS OR TOYS OF ANY KIND are allowed inside the fenced pool area.
  • IN CASE OF EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY
  • NO GLASS CONTAINERS of any kind are allowed inside the pool area.
